Lunch Out and Thursday Night Television

October 9th 2009 2:20pm

Yesterday, Freddy and I took a long time to get to work, but when we got there, there weren´t many other people in the office. We started out without internet, so I began typing up some emails in Microsoft Word to send later at an Internet Cafe. It took me most of the morning, and when I finished up my last bit of work, everyone from the office piled into one of the vans that we have here, and drove to one of the local markets.

For lunch, I had "cerdo", which was one of the most delicious pork dishes I´ve ever eaten. Many of the foods here in Honduras are finger foods, and I am enjoying grabbing my meal through a tortilla to eat it. The combintion of rice, cheese, cerdo, and tortilla was amazing, and I hope to be able to go back soon.

The woman serving me told me a very long and involved story about her visit to Georgia. I tried to tell her that I lived in Georgia for 6 years, but before I could, I heard all about how beautiful Savannah is, how I need to visit the city, how it is close to the beach, how nice the environment is, how it is never cool, and how most of the people are attractive. It was very enlightening.

After lunch, Patty, Heidy, and I walked around the market for a while and they both picked out sweaters to buy. The clothing store was fairly cheap, so they both went ahead and bought sweaters for the price of $1.75US each.

When we concluded our shopping, we went back to the CCD, where we, by some miracle, had internet. I spent the rest of my day sending my emails, facebook messages, and trying to catch up with writing in my blog.

When we left around 4:30, I headed to Plaza to buy some food for dinner. The sky was getting dark, and I shopped quickly to try and get back to my apartment before the rain came. I barely made it back inside my apartment, when I heard the plinks and plunks of the rain colliding with the metal roof overhead.

It rained for the rest of the evening as I watched Parks and Recreation, The Office, and It´s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I´m looking forward to the return of 30 Rock next week, and I have found that Parks and Recreation is growing on me. Not sure how I feel about that.

I went up to the roof for a while, and did a few exercises before heading back down to my apartment. I read for a little while, then watched the storm before falling asleep.
