Secret Santa

Friday December 4th 2009 2:45pm

In Honduras, Secret Santa gift exchanges do not exist. Secret Friend gift exchanges, however, are very common. Yesterday I left my first gift for my secret friend. My secret friend forgot to check the box before she left for the day. I am sure that the gift is now no longer nearly as delicious or not-stale as I had hoped. I have yet to recieve anything from my secret friend, leading me to believe that my gift giver places much more value on the "secret" aspect of the exchange.

As far as work goes, it was a pretty standard day. I translated a few documents, listened to my Christmas music, enjoyed some water from a snowman mug, and found a few more grant applications. Due to a late meeting, we didn´t leave the office until close to 5:30, and I didn´t get back to my apartment until close to 6:00.

I had wanted to make a pizza for dinner, but the crust which I had previously purchased, disappointed me in much the same way that I´m sure my gift to my secret friend will be disspointing. The stale crust pushed me in the direction of a delicious dinner of hot dogs with cheese and pepperoni on crackers.

The meal was surprisingly filling, and as I watched the Office, I got a phone call from Freddy inviting me to come over and play some Guitar Hero with Cente and a few of the other guys. I headed over for a while, and played various video games and watched television until close to midnight. I hadn´t seen Cente, Dario, and Sedok in a while, and it was really good to see them.
