My First Group

Friday January 29th 2010 8:45am

I don't know when I'll get the chance to write again, because I'm not really sure how much I'm going to need to be involved with this group. I might be able to write tomorrow, or I might not be able to update until the middle of next week. I'm writing this from an internet cafe in Plaza, as I'm waiting for Marisela to pick me up on our way to the airport.

Yesterday was probably the most extreme vacation day I've ever seen. Only Heidy, Cristian, and I were in the office. Luckily, we all work in the same room, so it didn't seem really boring. We caught up about a lot of different movies, books, and other things that we like, and discussed some of the finer points between American and Honduran culture. The other seven and a half hours of the work day passed by slowly, and without word from Marisela on what I needed to have prepared for the group coming in.

Marisela eventually called last night and told me to pack a bag because I might be going with the group to San Pedro Sula for the weekend. I really have no idea what to expect with this group coming in. I'll be interested to see how my first group experience here goes.

Sorry if this is kind of short, I need to head outside. I did want to give thanks again for the comments, that I have really enjoyed reading. Apparently, people write more comments when I leave an open ended question for people to weigh in on at the end...so...I'm trying to decide which classic book to read next. I have a few with me, and I can find a few in English down here, so I'll be interested to hear of any good book recommendations.

  1. I had a team meeting yesterday and informed everyone that you needed their help. They all looked to me with compassionate concern. I then wrote Saints vs. Colts on the board and told them you weren't sure who to cheer for. The final tally was Saints 4 and Colts 5. I didn't include my vote (being the boss I didn't want to sway any votes), but I am going to cheer for the Saints. If there is an underdog in this match, I think its the Saints, so they get my vote. Since I've cried "wolf" with my team, I hope you don't ever really need help! MUM

  2. Firstly, I must agree with your mum. I like rooting for the underdog too. Secondly, I love that her signature is "mum" because that's what I call mine as well.

Third, hmm...what are the things you like about the books you read? I know we're both Hemingway fans and I have to say one of my favorites from him is "A Farewell to Arms" partially because it's semi-biographical and I find it all interesting.

    Have a safe trip!

  3. my votes for reading: Sherlock Holmes. there are 56 short stories and 4 novels. they're all awesome. if you haven't read any of them, start with either The Hound of the Baskervilles or the short stories The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. if you have read some, the rest are just as awesome!
