Probably the best thing about having a computer in my apartment is the return of the shower party. In college, it was always a good time to bring a CD player or computer into the bathroom to play music while showering. It is a good way to start the day. Because I don't have iTunes or anything like that on this computer, I use www.grooveshark.com which is a website that allows you to type in any song, add it to your list, and play it.
This morning, I started my day off right with a little bit of "Eye of the Tiger." It doesn't take much more than that to get someone excited for the day. Even if the day will be spent driving to the middle of nowhere, walking around while other people use complicated business words that you dont understand yet, and spending the night in that same middle of nowhere place with nothing to do but read until it gets too dark to do so. Thats right, we don't use electricity at night in Talanga due to high costs. Maybe if I offer to pay for the extra light, I can read for a little while, otherwise it will be lights out around 6:00 or so.
I know that there are computers out there, but I'm not sure if there is any internet connectivity, or if I could even use the computers that are available. I'm also not sure when we are leaving today, when we are getting back tomorrow, or really why I'm going. But hey, this is Honduras. The way things are done here just aren't the way I've been doing them for 21 years. It can take a while to break some habits.

You have much more patience than I do, sir. I hope you have safe travels and Internet access. Maybe you should buy some tv show DVDs to play on your laptop for times like these. I also like music to be playing when I shower. Of course I am also a shower singer (my poor neighbors). Have a good trip!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great up-beat way to start the day. A positive start can bless the whole day!
ReplyDeleteIs Talanga a community, a property of CCD - or what? Why meet there?
Today, we pick up your great-grandmother at the Tampa airport. She is coming in from Phoenix where she has been with Bev and Bill for four weeks...she flew there from Pittsburgh. She will fly back to Pittsburgh from Tampa on March 3rd. PRETTY GOOD FOR 92 YEARS OLD!!
